Basic Rights Watch is pleased to announce the 2020 National FOI Ranking scheduled to take place on Monday, 28th September, to mark the International Day for Universal Access to Information. This ranking measures compliance of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA) of 2011. The ranking is aimed at entrenching accountability and transparency in public and security sector institutions by ensuring MDAs liberate data and citizens have timely and unrestricted access to public information.
Improved disclosure practices of MDAs will positively impact how public resources are managed and utilized as citizens would have necessary information which would allow them to actively participate in governance. This year\’s ranking is in collaboration with BudgIT, Media Rights Agenda, ICIR and Right 2 Know.
